| With
a career spanning 25 years reflecting in-depth
political experience, Cheri Jacobus has developed
a record of delivering results. Her expertise
is in message development, media strategy, press
relations and communications services, as well
as policy and legislative strategy, communications
and public affairs consulting for companies and
organizations dealing with Congress, the White
House and federal agencies. She founded Capitol
Strategies public affairs and communications firm
in 1998, building a client base that includes
political campaigns, defense contractors, business
coalitions, political grassroots organizations,
law firms, and conservative leaders and activists.
She also is an adjunct professor at George Washington
University graduate program for political management.
The
political bug biting early, Cheri Jacobus managed
her first political campaign in high school, successfully
propelling her candidate into the position of
freshman class president.
Since
then, Cheri Jacobus has managed and advised several
noteworthy political campaigns, and was a media
spokesperson at the Republican National Committee.
She appears on national television programs such
as "Crossfire", "The O'Reilly Factor",
"Your World With Neil Cavuto", "Larry
King Live, "The Situation Room with Wolf
Blitzer" and "Talk Back Live" on
CNN, FOX News, MSNBC, and CNBC, "The Montel
Williams Show" and ABC's "Politically
Incorrect With Bill Maher" and many more
offering political analysis, commentary and debate.
She also has lectured at The Leadership Institute,
American University, Young American Broadcasters,
American Bar Association Legislative Conference
and other groups.
While
serving as Communications Director for the House
Education and Workforce Committee after the Republican
takeover of Congress in 1995, Ms. Jacobus helped
shape policy by incorporating communications strategy
into issue development, as well as directing press
relations for the Committee's issues in the Congress
and serving as press spokesperson.
As
a key advisor to Congressman Roscoe Bartlett,
Ms. Jacobus also spearheaded the effort to expose
abuse of power by Clinton aides when a top Clinton
staff member used Marine One, the presidential
helicopter, for a golf outing in Frederick, Maryland.
The Clinton aide ultimately resigned under pressure,
and taxpayers were fully reimbursed.
In
1988, after graduating from the American Campaign
Academy, an intense, 10-week campaign management
program dubbed "The West Point of Politics"
by Newsweek magazine, Cheri Jacobus served as
campaign manager and chief political strategist
for Wayne Gilchrest (R-MD) in his uphill battle
to defeat an entrenched and well-financed Democrat
incumbent at a time when incumbent Congressmen
enjoyed a 98.5% re-election rate.
Though
Mr.Gilchrest was outspent more than 6 to 1, Ms.
Jacobus devised and implemented a strong earned
media strategy that resulted in Mr. Gilchrest
garnering 49.6% of the vote in one of the nation's
closest races, surprising "conventional wisdom"
in both Maryland and Washington, and paving the
way for Mr. Gilchrest to easily win the seat two
years later.
Cheri's
Washington experience also includes working for
former House Republican leader Bob Michel (R-IL)
and other Republican Members of Congress, in addition
to lobbying and devising and implementing media
strategy for successful repeal of the boat luxury
tax.
A
native of Peoria, Illinois, Cheri Jacobus graduated
from West Virginia University with a Bachelor
of Science degree in Journalism.
